PSLF Employer Toolkit

PSLF is a powerful tool to encourage retention among our state and non-profit employee workforce, as well as a life-changing opportunity for your employees. 

As a government or non-profit employer, your employees are potentially eligible for full cancellation of their federal student loans under the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. PSLF offers loan cancellation to borrowers after 10 years in government or non-profit public service work and completion of 120 qualifying loan payments.

Employers play an essential role in helping borrowers achieve full loan forgiveness. We need employers to:
 

  • Spread the word to employees on the importance of this time-sensitive opportunity 
     

  • Help employees fill out their PSLF forms by designating a point-of-contact to facilitate certifying their employment
